When a House Becomes a Home

Bette Murphy - Yours can too!
There are a lot of things that makes a family, but the most important of all is building your family/home on a solid foundation.

Matthew 7:24-25 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

I have lived on both foundations, and it is those lessons that have led me to where I am today.

During the most difficult time in my life I had one of the most incredible experiences.

One day while on my lunch hour, I was having a conversation with God, actually I was arguing with Him (in my mind, of course). I was walking out of the medical book store at the U of MN, asking Him all kinds of questions: How was I going to make it financially, how was I going to handle being a single Mom with three kids, how was I going to just make it – one more day? The agony and pain I felt that day was immense. As I was arguing with Him, I all of a sudden heard a tremendous, "TRUST ME." It was the strongest, most resonant sound I have ever heard. What happened next was equally unbelievable; I looked ahead of me and there was no one, literally no one in front of me. There had just been dozens of people all around, I looked over my shoulder to see the very large open student lounge, but no one there either, I looked over my other shoulder and again, no one. My palms immediately became wet with sweat. A minute ago I was arguing with God, then He spoke to me, and then He cleared the entire area, so I would have no doubt it was Him. Whew!

Since that time I have built my house one board and one nail at a time on Christ’s foundation. Sometimes I’ve fallen off, only to get back up and start in again, but oh how my house is beginning to take shape. The more I seek Him the better my house becomes. I hope the same for your house as well.
